OPTOMETRIST + HEALTH EDUCATOR
Hi! I'm Dr. Amanda.
I teach the simplicity behind the science of optometry, the fashionable side of eyewear, and the art of healthy living.
HOW I GOT HERE
Before I turned this blog into a growing online source for ocular wellness and nutrition, before I was featured in numerous eye care industry and media publications, before I was speaking in front of audiences at trade shows, I was an optometrist with a passion for preventive eye care.
After I graduated with my doctorate in optometry and started practicing in a clinic, I noticed that my patients were routinely asking the same question:
"How do I keep my eyes healthy?"
Research has shown that many vision and ocular health issues cannot be answered within the visual system alone. Healthy eyes and vision depend on the health of the entire body. In the healthcare field, there is a lot of emphasis on treating the body after a disease has already developed.
I have a vision for something different: teaching you tried and tested preventive methods to help you maintain healthy vision and eyes — and ultimately, whole-body health.
After friends and family started asking for eye health advice, I started a free blog. Fast-forward through job offers to freelance as an eye care consultant and writer, developing courses, and speaking at trade shows, I did something that I didn’t even know was possible—I turned my vision of educating others on a larger scale into reality and haven't looked back.
WHICH LEADS ME TO WHY THIS SITE EXISTS: I’M HERE TO GUIDE YOU TOWARDS CLARITY OF MIND + VISION.
My mission is to help other women to "See Clearly, Look Stylish, and Live Well."
